05 legacy wagon wind noise problem

Anyone else having it besides smithby? THere's a high pitched noise at 50mph+ and a low pitched terrible drone noise as well that could be related to the top cross bars on the roof? ANy input.

I have a '02 sedan. Slightly different, but I hope I can give you some insight.

I got a Yakima roof rack, and there is absolutely awful wind noise when I have it on my car without any attachments. Usually above 50mph. If I have my snowboard attachment + my snowboard, the wind noise is nearly reduced to non-rack levels.

There are wind noise reducing accessories that you can get. I believe Yakima makes the factory rack equipment for Subaru, so you could either get Yakima accessories or ones directly from Subaru.

Just figured it out last night as you poin tout. I took the cross bar part of the racks off and vois la, no more high pitched noise or low pitched obnoxious rumble. I'll have to find a deflector.
