05-06 WRX Interior trin removal/replacement
Hello all. Simple question here. What is the proper procedure for removing the silver center console trim (including the vents) and the round vent trim? I'm gonna replace the silver on my 06' wagon with the s204 black trim. I just want to do it without tearing up my interior. Thanks for any help.
to remove all the trim you
1. take off your shift **** by twisting it counter clock wise.
2. grab the trim closes to the arm rest and pull up(pops up). you can dig your fingers into the shift boot to help pull it.
3. the shift boot and the little tray thing is connected to the bottom trim. so unplug the fat plastic connection and bring out the whole trim+shift boot away.
4.moving up (radio trim), unscrew the screws you see on the bottom. the top is held by clips so the trick is you first unscrew the bottom so you can get some kind of gap. you can just rip the trim out by hand but thats a little too harsh. instead take a screw driver wrap a cloth around(to protect trim if you care) it and place in on the gap(pull out the bottom a little) on the side of the trim. slide the screw driver upwards and thus poping the top three clips i think. whats left is the radio and your three ***** for you climate control still intact.
5.unscrew the bottom screws again and you just pop it right out. the hazard button will have some kind of connection, so unplug that after you get the trim off to take away the trim.

The round trim rings just pull off. The only tricky thing is not scratching them or the dash. Try gently prying with two flatheads, that's what I did, and since I was painting them I wasn't as concerned with scratching them as I was the dash.
