I talked to them about doin my STi cluster. Man it was going to cost around $160 if i remember correct.

They were charging like $3 per SMD (smaller than an LED) and the rest was labor.

You can buy them direct from distributors if you can find out which ones are needed, and they aren't that expensive. It is the labor involved in tearing the whole thing apart that costs you, so you either pay someone or spend your time doing it. There's a pretty good write up for the WRX on Nasioc using bulb condoms except you would swap them for LED.

yea they were going to charge me $3 per SMD, I found them online for .10 each.

The STi cluster isnt like the wrx clusters where you can put the bulb covers on. This are the size of a ball from a ball point pen soldered onto the board inside the cluster. Ive opened mine up a few times. I have ok soldering skills, but do not have good enough for this job, nor a nice enough iron haha.

If you heat up that board in the wrong place or for just a second too much, the board it going to get fried.

I have a nice Weller iron, but I would probably buy a used cluster to do it on in case I screwed it up

Well technically the STi cluster is a "spare" for me haha. Ive still got my stock one in the garage. Its more of "i dont want to potentially ruin a $200+ cluster practicing"

Try practicing on a spare w.e board that might have some connections close to it and get a needle point tip for your solder iron. Its tricky watched a few people solder stuff that small before. Just breathe lol

if you really wanted to, which I recommend against, you would have to change the LED's at the very least. Halo rings normally involve a one-piece development, so access to the LED's would be hard. The other way would be that you would need to open up the construction of your Front lights, and then exchange out the real halo ring with one of a different colour. There are many listed on eBay, just discover your halo ring size. Wiring should be the same.
