painting exhaust

i want to paint my exhaust can black. would it turn out better if i sanded it? what kind of prepping do i need to do? and what kind of paint should i used?

You can sand it a bit just so the paint has a better surface to grab. I used flat black BBQ paint to paint my Greddy Evo2 exhaust. Painted just the can.

Very Nice. Figured whats the point of painting the tip, not like the exhaust looks stock. Just didnt care much for the shiny can.

Thats what I did with my blitz nur spec r, but I painted the whole thing... mid pipe and all. Turned out really good

I painted my cobb muffler flat black with VHT high temp spray paint. Didn't sand anything just masked off the tip. I have put about 20,000 miles on it and it still looks great.
