ignition power source

To pass canadian inspections i need to install daytime runningn lights and all i need to complete this is a signal - any power source that is on when car is running but not on when just the key is on. the instructions say wrap around the spark plug wire but i think there should be an easier way. the wire is long enough to reach across the engine bay, the module is mounted next to the battery. the car is 2005 wrx. thanks

Some examples as per the shotty instructions : oil pressure switch or a high point 12v source when ignition is in run position

oh thats a tough one...power only when car is running. -,.- that beats me.

i'd say make your life easier and just hook it up to ignition. grab it from the steering column wiring harness or fuse box which would be easier.

cigarette lighter would either be constant or ignition (key on acc. or ign. position).

if its like trying to install a oil pressure gauge, i hear its a pain in the ***.
i'd say just put it to your ignition switch, i dont remember off head if there is a fusebox inside the engine bay but if there is, just find any acc or ign source, if not, just run it inside the car via gromet so you dont have to drill a hole. either way you can wireloom it and such so it looks stock.
