Question Exhaust Electronic Cut-Out

I'm interested in maybe running an electronic cut-out after the midpipe (between the mid and muffler). Running stage 2 ots map with catted cobb dp and catless uppipe. Would running a cutout here harm anything?

You would just need another map possibly when opening the cut out

Is that because of turbo back pressure? I currently running the stock sti exhaust. I always wondered if that's a bad thing for an otherwise stage 2+ setup...

another tune wouldnt be necessary but you would definitely have gains if you had a closed and open cutout tune.

I would imagine the point of a cut out is for free flowing exhaust, having a cat defeats the purpose IMO.....catless down pipe and cut out between the mid and down pipes would be what I'd do. Good luck

Well don't you have to watch out for over boost or boost creep?

I run full 3.5" APS Exhaust with stock muffler. Cutout exits in front of the right rear tire, FLi did awesome job! I run Link ECU so I have 2 different maps I can run, it's one of the best mods I have done!

I'm not sure, I'm not a pro, but from the lurking I've done on the internet, a lot of people just get the tune closed and leave it at that. open and close the cutout when they feel like it. It definitely better if you get tuned on both but that means changing maps at a stop light when you want to open the cutout with an AP. Unless you do the reflash at home and drive either open and closed and not change the state of the cutout.

I would think about the factor of a cut out is for no cost streaming fatigue, having a cat failures the objective IMO.....catless down tube and cut out between the mid and down tube joints would be what I'd do. Best of fortune
