Short answer: Vehicle does not have to be street legal to participate.
Longer answer: We do conduct tech inspections, mainly for safety purposes. We make sure the car is mechanically sound, e.g. brakes feel okay, steering okay, seatbelts work, battery secured, body parts secured. There are a couple of cars that have participated that are not street legal. Its up to the driver on how they get their car to the track (we had one guy tow a car on the trailer and I have a car that currently stays at the track). No need insurance, safety or reg.
If you have any specific questions, you could ask Cory or myself as we are the two Tech inspectors. If you want to try Rally, you can usually get a co-drive. We allow up to 4 drivers per vehicle and I have had 2 full vehicles. I have an 03 bugeye so let me know. I will say that they work great for Rally. If you saw mine though, know that the damage is not from Rally but from HulaX which is an entirely different animal.
Your bugeye sounds like a perfect Rally vehicle and I hope someone picks it up. I was actually thinking about that as my bugeye is beyond repair bodywise but running mechanically great (looking for a body to swap).
Our next event is on May 19. If you are serious, let me know and I'll get you into a SUBY. Or stop investing in your WRX and bring it out to Rally!
And no dumb questions. We have been trying to spread the word about Rally since the term can be associated with so different levels of racing in the dirt.

ive been telling people that it is best to check it out themselves, but have sent people some photos in which the keys and dings are hard to see, lol. i have some interest, but you know how craigslist is.....lowballer by the name of mario, email mariopolo16@**ahoo.com (im sure hes emailed others of you selling your subarus lol), asking if id take $4g....sorry, but i think the car is worth more than that, lol. motor runs fine and is not blown or knocking. also, others asking if i like trade for their lifted truck or protege 5...lol. pretty sure its a scam when someone on cl tells you to get an auto quote for them and gives you the url....url address looked awfully weird and when i told the person to get a quote themselves (as insurance varies greatly depending on many factors), i got no response lol....
thanks for your offer....i will take you up on that for sure if i decide to turn the car into a rally car. OT-are you the guy who got his trans rebuilt by seth? i know he rebuilt someones wrx trans who rallys....i just didnt know who that was since i dont fan club:P hehe.
Yup, that would be my WRX. Seth did a lot of work on this one, including dropping in the 2.5 block.
Anytime you want to try Rally, let me know. We got a couple of women drivers kick'n but at Rally, both having fun in the Blubaru.

anyway, your name came up because he was telling me he had just rebuilt your trans and wanted to know if he should start on mine. since we've never met, i had no idea who you were when he dropped your name....sorry, even at this time, i cant remember your name:P he just mentioned you had a bugeye too and were really into rally, so i put two and two together and i guess it was a good assumption/guess.....bingo! haha.i had 2 guys come and check out the car this weeked. WARNING, if any of you guys are selling your wrx (or sti i guess) and encounter an idiot by the name of cody reed (coast guard) drives a pos yellow srt4 with stickers (R*B 653, i believe thats the plate, masked part of it, but joey can edit this thread if ive said anything wrong)...DO NOT let the mother***er drive your car. he burned the **** out of my clutch, idiot DOES NOT know how to drive. first of all, why the hell would you drive like that with a child in the car (my 5 year old son was in the backseat). he was ripping it on the freeway and obviously dont know how to drive, and he burned the clutch out big time. terrible burning clutch smell.....unfortunately, the 2nd guy came immediately after and probably thought i was lying when i said some dumbfock in a yellow srt4 just burned the **** out of the clutch. 2nd guy is interested and will supposedly pick up the car on friday (he didnt have the cash), but he did not leave a deposit so im not holding my breath.....until someone shows me the money, car still for sale.
FYI-i was very paranoid (as i always am), so i drove the car around ALOT yesterday. drove to salt lake and back home in the morning and then to ala moana in the afternoon......thank god the clutch seems to be ok. no burning smell and it is definately not slipping. it just "doesnt feel the same" as one might expect when an idiot burns the **** out of it......just putting it out here cause i pride myself in honestly and would never intentionally fack anyone over.....in fact, the 2nd guy said my car was "alot better than he expected". i did tell him i dont downplay anything....it is keyed and dinged.....i didnt want to waste anyones time, especially my own
if he does buy it, i believe he will do all the bodywork himself, which is what i was hoping would happen....someone would fix it up....he did say he could do it in a couple weekends too....im hoping deal goes through and he buys the car. seems like a good guy. he was VERY respectful when he drove my car. did not drive anything like the first idiot.

wow im surprised no one corrected my dumb as$! lmfao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dont know how a subaru could run a vafc lmfao! i is dumb:P anyway, corrected it to what is truly in the car....apex avcr....blue face...haha.
anyway, had someone come and take a look at the car. and he confirmed that the clutch was fine and the car "wasnt as bad as he expected".......i think i am scaring people away with my cl ad. i should probably change it to "fair" condition instead of "poor". idk, like i said before, i do not want to waste anyones time by putting that the car is pretty when it is not. theres a good amount of interest....im just shocked no one has picked it up yet. its a solid running 02 wrx, just looks ugly (IMO). right now, for 5g you can get a knocking 02 wrx or 4g (big island) you can get a front end damaged wrx....i think my price is good considering all the maintenance and the mods!
