I have had multiple suspension setups. And the truth is...anything will do just fine for most applications. Unless you are competing, sti struts with cheap used springs is possibly the best way to go. Throw in some fat sway bars and your car will handle 90% as good as the guys' that dropped multiple thousands on their suspension setup.
The idea is to eliminate body roll, and keep as much tire as possible on the ground at any given moment.
It's like getting drunk (you can for sure do it with grey goose, but you can get to the same place with skyy vodka, and still have money for Jack in the Box on the way home)
Improperly setup or poorly made coilovers can actually decrease performance.
With coilovers, you can lift your car back up rather easily for safety inspection though. Lots of places dont even under if your car is sitting high.

I was actually impressed with the ride after...and said screw ordering springs. haha. The car is the white 1jz'd one that has been on craigs for a year. It was actually a fast fun car, I may buy it back if the track opens up and he still has it.
