04 wrx drop springs recommendations

I'm thinking of getting some drop springs for my 04 wrx with 18" rims. Which brand and type of drop spring would you recommend? Thanks for the help, just trying to get some information. I'm currently looking at the tein stech or htechs.

Anything but Tein.

RCE are good, hard to find though. What do you want to do with your car? autox? rce blacks would be good... do yourself a favor though, don't bother with springs until you can afford some sti struts or inserts of some kind. The springs are cool for a while, but without the proper dampening I feel they lack a lot.

indeed. with drop springs you'll most likely be dissatisfied in the long run, so coilovers would be the best investment imho.

not necessarily, if you just want a drop for show and to fill the fender gap then lowering springs are perfectly fine.

if you want a good happy medium look into Sti pinks. they close the fender gap considerably and they stiffen up the suspension nicely. I ran these on my 05 STI for 3 years and never had a complaint on the ride.

if you insist on going with coil overs look into BC Coilovers. I am currently running these on my GC and I am very satisfied with the ride and overall feel when I am pushing these on turns. Also they are priced for the baller on a budget @ roughly $950-$1100 depending on what options you have included when you buy them.

if money isnt an issue, might as well go with the coils. but hey, thats my opinion.

IMO Koni inserts and swift springs will run the hell out of Megan coils. If you decide to go with coil overs, buy something worth a damn. Not to offend others but there are much better options than Megan coils. Their failure rate is just too much. Excellent street coil choice would be Bilstien PSS9s.

+1 for Koni Inserts. I'd recommend Crucial Springs since I love mine and this setup owns on the street and at autocross, but they aren't available new any more. RCE has some popular options but they arent' cheap.

<Not a fan of coilovers. They cost more, require more maintenance and are less dependable.

Coilovers are great as long as you're willing to spend the money on a good set. Most of the time they are installed for bling factor. Form follow function IMB.

Lowering Springs? So that's how you guys get your cars so low. ****, I cut my front springs with a die grinder and put a few of bags of cement in the trunk.

When I really want the slammed look, I just give my girlfriend a ride.
