Windshield replacement: Safelite or Ace?
I have to replace the windshield for my wife's minivan & we'll be paying cash as the deductible for her comprehensive coverage is $500.
I got a few web quotes from Safelite & Ace.
The Ace quote looks significantly cheaper (around $80)
I'd like to solicit feedback from anyone who has used either of these businesses.
For my LGT, my insurance company directed me to Safelite & I didnt have any issues with them. If Ace does good work I'll be going there since they have the pricing advantage.
Thanks...

I had my windshield replaced back in September by Safelite. A rock from a construction vehicle hit it on the highway and made a crack, which ended up growing more than halfway across the windshield. I didn't really have any issues with Safelite, although the price was a bit steep. This was in the DC area mind you. I wish I knew about ACE before though. I could've used the money I saved on a new part...

You cant go wrong with either although I never had a windshield done by ACE. I know of the owner as they did car tinting for my former boss before..
Safelite pretty much specializes in this though and pretty fast and efficient.

Hey Chris, we use Leeward Auto Glass for all our glass work at the shop if you'd like to call to get a quote. You can call # 671-4353 and ask for John. They usually get their glass from Ace, as Ace is one of the larger glass shops on the island, so I'd bet the pricing would still be better through Ace though. For what it's worth, we've used them a bunch of times when our normal glass guy is on vacation and never had any issues. I would just confirm how their warranty works and how it compares to SafeLite. If I had to choose, I'd pick Ace though. Only because they're locally owned and operated and not a "mainland chain" store.
The clips do break when you take off the roof molding but they should have bought new ones and charged me for them. Instead of me finding a week later that the molding was hanging on by a few clips that didn't break, causing it to not sit flush. When I opened the trunk it caught the molding and sprung the whole thing off.

I should have called you first. Hopefully this post will help others in the future.
would prefer ACE or Leeward auto glass..
before you price out the glass from ACE try to check Dealer cost of a new glass. last car at work we replaced a windshield we went with leeward auto glass but bought the glass from BMW since their glass was cheaper then a replacement from ACE... go figure? lol

My windshield cracked across the whole thing. Called my insurance to check the deductible for windshield, same as anything ($1,000). Called safelite, gave me a discount for having AAA and for a new front windshield it came to $374.78. This is the windshield with the heated wipers. Lifetime warranty and they are doing it at my house on Friday. Before and after pics will be up then.
