Little Safelite repair rant...

Little Safelite repair rant...
well, I cracked my windshield on the way back from Tahoe Saturday.
Called Safelite Autoglass for a mobile appointment.
They came to my work this morning…
1) The guy that came could barely speak English? I mean, how can you offer services if you can barely communicate?
2) He told me it wouldn’t be perfect, but would be much better than it was.
3) well…its worst than it was…
when I told him:
“Euh…its not much better? Looks like someone shot a few pellets in my windshield?” (referring to the little holes he drilled)
he simply replied:
“Well..just get the windshield replaced and get reimburse the repairs.“
its like what the hell...
I know that star chips can be repaired to the point that you can hardly tell, but should I expect the same for cracks? Or am I over reacting?

dood get your windshield replaced, not repaired if its totally spidered and isht.
If its a bullseye type that can be filled, that's different...

I highly reccomend getting your windshield replaced by ABC Glass Company. They are based in Sunnyvale, but will travel to your work and install it in less than an hour. It was $300 for a new windshield replacement. 408-984-6052
And if you tell them that Karl with the blue WRX sent you, they may give you a free tint at the top of your windshield like they did for me.
Lifetime warranty on windshield and seal.

did you go through your insurance company? I just called mine and my deductible is $100.
I might just drive it like that for a while (end of summer) I have plenty of Tahoe trips left before the end of the summer...I would hate to replace it now just to get another chip within a few weeks. Thanks for the heads up tho..

Panel Craft, which is a SUPERB autobody shop in Berkeley, had this company do a perfect job replace my cracked-up windshield:

The replacement glass that Oakland Glass uses is PPG, high quality.
It has taken rocks and not chipped, whereas the factory glass would have spidered up! The factory glass is garbage!
