Windshield replacement

Anyone replaced their windshield themselves? I have the replacement that I need to remove from one WRX and replace a cracked on on another. I've searched for a how to. Never did a windshield before. Let me know. Thanks!

It's easy with two people and proper tools. Use piano wire and vise grips to cut old one out.

Scrape off old glue with a razor knife. Clean both surfaces with alcohol. Use proper prep and glue. Have both suction cups on and ready before applying glue to windshield. Set glass carefully into place. Use a few strips of masking tape from glass to roof of car to keep glass from sliding down while glue sets.

never done one before but seen so many done in person that i know it's as easy(ish) as chad described. also there's a seal scraping tool (looks like a hook) that you can buy at O'Reilly that would make your life a ton easier. suction cups are a must though

That tool sucks. Not worth a dollar. It only works if the glue bead is thin and the frame has plenty of slop room.

Thanks for the tips/write up. Will probably try the first removal and go from there.
