Whos suby was the first modded suby you rode in and your thoughts?
Spring 03, before STi's were out. Wasn't anyone's Subaru, belonged to a used car dealership that I helped out at and did computer work for part time after I'd get off work from my 8-5 mon-fri job. They got some kid traded in his wrx with basic bolt-ons. Think he had a catback, short shifter. Owner of the dealership also had an 03 red Evo 8 traded in for a BMW, and he always let me drive the cars, so I drove the Evo 8 and the WRX and loved both, but just couldn't resist the attraction of the Subie!!! I then bought my first Subaru, 2004 STi, silver/silver, in Sept of 03, same year. I was sold on 'em!!
Hmmm don't know who's it was, but some military chick brought her wrb sti into a body shop I used to work at. Was an insurance job cause "her car got stolen from her driveway, and the thieves messed up her tranny". Kinda funny cause it was returned back to her driveway lol, way she knew was stolen was cause it wasn't in the same spot. Anyway, after everything was fixed my cousin took me for a ride in it. Man that thing honked. I fell in love and knew after my 240 I'd own a suby.

My STI was the first modded subie i was in, but I drove in a stock 06 STI before i bought mine and i thought that thing was so slow compared to my 350z lol.... little did i know
Mine was a white '02 STI. The exhaust that i heard made me look for a v8, but i was surprised to see this bad little bugeye. Body kit, gunmetal rims, and loud exhaust. it was what got me started.
I had just destroyed my Isuzu Bighorn and was in the market for a new car. I had been looking at a '92 Skyline when my friend let me try his '92 Legacy Turbo RS. It wasn't just quick, it was comfortable and practical too, which is two things the Skyline wasn't. I thought that Legacy was everything, so I bought it from him. Of course, I sold it as soon as I saw a Mitsubishi GTO for sale...
Looking back, I think because my GTO and my friend's Evo III were plagued with electrical problems and the Leggy had always been trouble-free, that played a large part in me choosing an STI when I went back to the US.
I'm not going to lie though, I still think Mitsu makes better looking and better driving cars. They just suck to live with.

My first ride in a moded subie was my friend geoff's in 05
He had a 04' rally blue, wrx. He had so many mods on it, it was a beast. Everything from a computer system in the dash to a sub under the passenger set (yes, that was defiantly a bonus). He took me out one night and i fell in love. It was his driving and his car the inspired me to get my subie. *sighs* i miss that car.
But i have vowed that mine will be just as pretty as his was one day

The first subie I ever rode in was my friend's dad WRX. It was a 2002 WRB WRX Wagon. We had to push it out of the driveway so we wouldn't wake his dad up so we can joy ride it. Later that night, I was driving through waikiki in the car and we saw these cute girls walking on the sidewalk, the light ahead turn red but the WRX was automatic and I forgot about that, cuz my sentra at the time was a manual, so I put my clutch foot on the break pedel and the car SLAMMED to a dead stop. It stop so fast all 4 tires smoked. My friend wasn't wearing his seat belt and he went flying into the dash board. And I mean flying, like he separated from his seat and cought air time. The whole time this was happening, the cute girls saw everything
Still had fun though.....To be honest, When I drove that WRX i was disappointed with the power, I expected more. But after a few simple mods on my very own WRX, a few years later, the true power came out and I realized it true potential. My first Suby though was a 2.5rs because I couldn't afford a WRX at the time because it was brand new back then...
Now I have an STi ,and at 24 years of age, I very happy to now own my dream car....

First ride was probably URABUS's or Frans 2.5rs back in 2000, shortly after buying mine... I though wow, these cars are pretty fun, handle pretty well and have ok power. Oh yeah, I also remember thinking I'm driving with a bunch of nuts. Later I rode in mikes wrx and thought geez, we need power like this in our cars
Track days suck when you have handling but not enough power... But still, auto-x was fun with our cars...

Before the STi came out I went to Schuman in Kaimuki and test drove a yellow WRX w/some sort of grapefruit shooter exhaust. Man I instantly fell in love with the boxer burble and the way that the power would come on at boost. I was hooked on Subaru and suddenly didn't want my Jetta GLX anymore. I wanted a WRX, but Bob @ Eurosport told me to hold out because the STi was coming. As soon as that was confirmed, I ordered one, even without a test drive. I've had my baybee for over five years now.
I rode my friend's STI (Chris-he's not on iclub) in late 04-05. He had a green, when it first came out, and a UTEC, and I thought it was slow as hell and I made fun of him a lot. I could take him from a roll, from a stop, pretty much at any time so long as we were going straight. His car even had more lag than mine, and he had .5 liter advantage. I also used to make fun of his sticker obsession and the size of his upgrade.
But his car ran and started every day, outhandled my car, and didn't really need much maintenance, whereas my car would barely idle and would overheat every so often depending on the weather and the traffic. One day my dsm overheated (one too many times) and I said screw it and got an STI too.
But I'm actually thinking of going back now that I read this thread

I had a friend I used to work with at the Hilton on the Big Island who had an 04. I think he had an FP Green Turbo in it (cant remember, but it was defiantly aftermarket). I've never rode in a car that accelerated that fast. It literally blew my mind. I was used to driving around Hondas, so having torque was a shock to me. I've been hooked ever since.

fast.....
