Waikiki Shell events?

Anyone gone to something at the shell? We have lawn seating for the Buffett concert and I was just curious if its completely open or you have designated areas to sit in? The tickets show areas, but no idea about it. Also planning on bringing some beach chairs, the really low ones, they said only backrests are allowed so just curious if anyone has tried to bring these in and gotten turned back. Dont want to waste my time running back to the car if someone has tried this before.

Thanks.

the lawn area is completely open to whoever gets there first. as for the beach chairs, sometimes i've gotten in with them, sometimes not. depends on the security guard checking your stuff.

hah. it was a good concert. we had to take the kid, but he liked it for about 30 mins til he crashed out. Little but of rain, but aside from that it was very nice, oh except for the moron drunks who kept tripping over everyone in the lawn.
