Vishnu Signature Turboback
Ok, so Im ordering the stage 2 without uppipe, adding signature and xede. My question is they are telling me to go with 1 cat in the pipe or else there will be detonation? This right? I figured I would go catless for better flow...
Any opinions are most appreciated.

Having too much of a free flowing exhaust can introduce boost creep at higher gears. Many people have experienced this. However there are fixes for it.
For example the cheap fix would be to enlarge your wasegate opening. Or the expensive way would be to get an external wastegate. I'd go for the later as an external wastegate sounds wicked if dumped into the atmosphere!

Dave I dont think you understand hom much you would have to do to get an external wastegate installed on a normal bolt on turbo from the likes of IHI, PE, or the stocker...
You would have to get the wastegate for about $400-600. Then the installation of the wastegate to your exhaust system which will cost a few hundred more, then have your existing internal wastegate flapper welded shut. Your better off living with the creep issue as you wont be doing too many 120MPH runs on the street will you?

No thanks. =) I will just live with it. I guess I was just asking if daily driving, some 1/4 mile runs and some auto-x would be hampered if I went catless. I dont really care either way, but would rather have it catless if it wont hurt the engine at all or performance.

none of the guys here that run catless have a problem with boost creep.
really, I don't understand how you have boost creep b/c of a free flowing exhaust.
When I have had boost creep it was b/c the wastegate(turbonectics creepgate) was not able to dump enough exhaust gas to keep the turbo from spooling more. Due partially to manifold design and then the wastegate itself.
To me, it sounds like the wastegates are just not strong enough on some cars/turbos, that would be why they would get creep, not b/c the exhaust is too free flowing.
Now the boost spiking thing is different ...
