Get an SR-40, PE 1820 or T3/T4 hybrid. Why settle for high 12's low 13's when for a couple hundred more you'll have high 11's low 12's.

Will I have to run 650 injectors with the 1820?

not neccesarily. You can use STi injectors, but your fuel supply won't necessarily be up to par with what the turbo is capable of.

Quantum Racing

Check out the bottom of the page (Quantum Racing Turbo Kit).
Now that's a kit worth buying. I think you can buy individual pieces enabling you to buy whatever t3/t4 you want (ie. get a less expensive $500 turbo now, ... get a ball bearing, expensive turbo later)

*edit: IMO, this is a kit Dave should be looking at!!

The VF29 is a great turbo for the auto-x'r or for the guys that run an automatic because of it's smaller turbine and low lag design. Other then that it's not really a 1/4 mile turbo at all. But it's still capable of very low 13 sec timeslips behind the right driver and supporting mods.

With the arrival of the bolt-on Garrett T3/T04E, and the progress David Buschur is making with his Mitsubishi 16G turbos, I think I'm just gonna wait and see. With any luck, the competition will start to lower prices of existing turbos. These are exciting times.
