UTEC Question

Do I have to use the Manual Boost Controller with the utec or can I use my SBC-iD with it? I like the fact that I can control the boost from within the car and don't want to loose this

Jon

- Anyone know where I can get an inexpensive UTEC?

You can use the SBC to control boost.

You can also use the UTEC to control boost from within the car (with a laptop).

I'm getting bored with my car as it is right now.... I'm somewhat of a nerd like you richard... I like to mess with stuff that's why I got in to computers (not as heavily as you (not yet since I'm lazy as hell)). If I can get more power out of the car and learn something while not blowing something up then that's great!

I am thinking about doing this too. I am not really crazy about boost control with the UTEC. It took me like a half hour yesterday trying to dial in the amount of boost I wanted. I suppose I just need to get more familliar with the interface, but running the car, pulling over, looking at the log, changing the boost values, running the car... it gets old real fast. And don't even get me started tuning out knock! Adjusting boost on the fly seems much more appealing. The only problem is with the SBC-id is it's not as flexable as the UTEC boost control. Hmmm...

John,

If your going to spend more cash on an electronic boost control with the UTEC, why not go with the XEDE?

Well I have a TXS unichip in my car now and it's been great! One thing about XEDE is not to many people tune it

It's being considered though!
