Underworld...
...was MARGINAL at best. How disappointing. I was expecting quite a bit, and the promise of a great movie was evident - however it just never came together and the pacing was just slothlike.
Kate Beckinsale is DAMNED hot in that black leather outfit though.
I'd have to say the only redeeming qualities of Underworld were:
1. Kate Beckinsale
2. Muted/dark color palette
3. Costume design
4. Production design
Not worth the cash. Bummer.

I was going to go see Underworld this coming weekend, after the crowds died down. After reading the posts on it, looks like I might just wait and rent it.

Shes hot like moth to close to flame!
I liked this flick but I do agree that it moved "sloth" like but non the less enjoyed it, but then again who doesnt enjoy chicks in skin tight pleather

I thought the movie was good. I dunno what you guys are b*tching about, .... it was obviously just the start to a series of movies .....
... and what lines were there? We had no problems Saturday night. Not worth $6? Sh*T, the friken POS race track sure as hell isn't worth $8!

It was MICHAEL Sheen (the guy that played Lucian in Underworld)...
And whether this movie was just a set up for sequels (I've read rumors that there is already an agreement regarding another movie) it WAY missed the mark in my book for the aforementioned reasons (slow, plodding, loose ends, no central sense of plot organization/movement, characters I didn't give a crap about, uninspired fight sequences, poor rendering of the Lycans, poor adrenaline/excitement management/tempo).
It could have been so much more, but wasn't. That's worse than sucking out right with no chance of ever having been worth it's salt.
My $.02 of course.

It's certainly not the worst movie I've seen, but it wasn't worth the $6 matinee price either. It'd be a good DVD rental.
It did almost make it's money back in the first weekend. It had a $23 mil budget and pulled in $22 mil this weekend.
At least it's spanking "One Upon a Time in Mexico" which I heard is another SEVERE disappointment. I had high hopes for that flick too.
Maybe I just got spoiled by all of the great movies that came out this summer? Pirates of the Caribbean just made my cinematic season... Now THAT was a flick! (I also pointed North for Matrix: Reloaded, X2)... T3 and Tomb Raider 2 were pretty darned good too.
Now the only light at the end of the after summer blockbuster tunnel is that Rock/Stifler combo. that should be coming out soon... What was the name of that one?
