Thumbs down It's messed up man....

sorry to hear about your car Diego...I know the feeling.

I'm still recovering from my break-in...they didn't use a wire on mine, they broke the window...

Your break-in was totally different from mine...mine, was obviously Crack heads wanting to steal things so they could sell immediately...although I lost a motherload of electronics (which I learned from and do not leave in the car anymore...or should I say, my "KIDS" don't...)

But your incident involved someone trying to steal your car man...that is really messed up...

BTW: some tips...

As can be seen from this incident, thieves are becoming more bold and want the entire car rather than just the contents...here is the kicker though...

1. Never leave your garage door opener in your car. Including house keys...

2. Never leave your registration information or anything with your address in your car...

Thieves are breaking into cars to take both of these items...skip stealing anything in the car, and go directly to your house. Even though you may have an alarm in your house, the garage is typically left un-alarmed...meaning while you are distraught over your car being broken into meeting up with police etc, ...the thieves are leisurely stealing everything in your garage...

You guys with home alarms don't have a motion sensor in your garage?

Any chance that the mall has cameras recording in that area? I know Pearlridge has cameras. Just a thought

My car was parked on the mall level by Macy's lingerie door entrance, it was parked the second to the last stall Mauka end. I didn't see any cameras where I was parked. Yes the Holidays are approaching and I am getting more leery of taking my car now. God knows, this is when they start breaking into cars for its contents (gifts) and such. Well I'm off to see the adjuster now, will post up more info later. Thanks again for the support, the Subie community is the best!!

Ditto for hearing the bad news.
Did they tap your auto unlock switch to open the door? If they did, need to figure a way to prevent them from getting to the switch. Jon idea makes is a good preventive with the rain guards. I covered my unlock switch with a hard plastic as a preventive (along with a couple more).

Pigfu**ers! Anyone who breaks into someone's car or home needs to be executed on site. I took and clipped the unlock wire where it enters the Integrated Unit and stuck a RFID actuated relay in there. Now no unlocky without the right chip. Or just breaking the window, or slim jimming it, but it is something.

Sorry about your break-in. Kind of a thread jack here, but my car was broken into 4 times that I can remember. First time, they busted my lock. Second time, they busted my window. Third time, through the same busted lock. Fourth time window again. The last one hurt because I just insuranced that window after a truck backed into me, so it was brand new. I think the worst part was that during one incident, they stole my stereo faceplate, but not the stereo. So I had a useless cd player. And another time, they went through the effort of removing my stereo and then left it on the seat - NO JOKE, WTF??? And my CDs during the window incident. Not just my CDs but my gfs as well, she was raging more than me. I think it was the whole parking on the street thing. As much as I'd love to have all car theives be castrated, etc, I don't think they'll ever go away. I have lots of friends who were ex-thieves and the stories they tell almost makes me sick at how easy it is and the kind of "thrill" they get off of it. The best way to keep your car safe is to learn from a car thief.

^ That is so true. When I lived in San Diego they did a news segment on car break-ins and said more cars were being broke into to search for items to use for identity theft than for anything else. Luckily this was not the case here. Always good when no one gets hurt and at least all the damage is things that can be fixed

Motion Sensors

A good 180lb man will feed him pretty good for a couple days.
