I hope you guyz had fun at the TFT cruise today, unfortunately I was unable to make it due to previous commitments. I might have been better off going though, because I had to take my wife to Ala Moana later in the day. Anywayz, my STi got broken in to while there. I guess it has to happen sometime, all the years of taking my modified cars to the center and it finally happened. I guess having frameless windows makes it that much easier to get a wire in to open the door, because that is how they got in. I guess after getting the door opened, the alarm sounded and they popped the hood and disconnected the battery to stop the alarm. They get in, break the lower plastic around the steering column to get at the starting mechanism. Well after sorting out the particulars with Mall Security and HPD, I called Triple A because the car would not start. Luckily the AAA tow driver put it back together so I could start the car. I felt uneasy leaving my car outside of my friend's shop overnight, so luckily I was able to drive my car home. Damage was minimal: scratched tint, tear in rubber seal (whistles now at speed), broken plastic steering wheel shroud, and the most expensive possibly, the adjustable steering wheel won't go all the way up. Other than that, everything seems to work alright. I shudder at the thought had they were able to get the car started, the tow truck driver thinks that they weren't able to start the car because the alarm was not disabled, does the stock alarm disables the starter? They also did not seem interested in anything else but the car, because they didn't bother taking anything that was in the car, my CDs were untouched as well as my son's Gameboy in the back seat...thank God again!!
This sounds like the reason they couldn't go anywhere:

Thanks for all the moral support and information. Nice to know that the factory alarm system is doing its job. According to mall security an Acura was reported being broken into a half an hour earlier than my report, perhaps they were disgruntled at their attempt at my STi and moved onto another. Hopefully they will get their just desserts. I will be calling my insurance agent tomorrow to get it all sorted, hopefully Belldandy will be all good soon, at least by next autocross...mahaloz again and drive and stay safe my friends.
Wow, Diego that really sucks!! Car thieves tried to break into my car yhe old fashioned way, by popping the lock at ward theatres area. They busted the lock and the door handle, couldn't get in so they also keyed my car and kicked a dent in it. Sorry to hear they actually got in yours. Maybe it's time for some hood pin locks for my car now....

Sorry to hear about the unfortunate incident, Diego. Good thing those donkey's didn't do more damage. I wish you could hook up a tazer to the ignition and really do some damage to them! Haha.

damn diego that sucks... I know that I had someone messing with my car a few years back when I used to park on kalakaua parking lot and I used to see finger prints on my windows trying to pry it open. My alarm would always have been set off or chirped and i would know when I came back to the car.
I did notice the same thing with the frameless doors. That was my OTHER justification to get the JDM rain guards. They cover the area just enough and the plastic is pretty strong so that slipping the wire into that area is kinda hard.
sadly... thieves will always try something if they want your car.

The 04s didn't have the immobilizer keys but hey did get the cool Ti key. I ended up installing an ignition/fuel cutoff switch on mine to make up for the lack of immobilizer.
