turbo heat shield

hey should i be driving my car with no turbo heat shield or is that not a good idea? can it fark stuff up? help please

ooo and also does anybody have a pic of what im supposed to cut off of the heat shield to make it fit with perrin d/p? its similar to any other bellmouth dp. that would help a million. thanks guys

no heat shield will make your tmic get heatsoaked faster, put it back on, you may need to trim it to fit over your DP, but I would put it back on or get an aftermarket one.

I think if you cut the heat shield around the bottom half it should clear just about any downpipe. You can see where two pieces are welded together, that's where I cut mine.

have a pic, but I do have aviation grade sheet metal shears that I cut mine with. Need a hand? My numbers are posted in the install thread. And the advice about retaining the shield is correct, especially with a tmic.

I think you could buy the Cusco Turbo Heat Sheild as well. There is one more out there but I don't know who makes it... It kinda has a chimney (sp?).

ok guys ur gonna have to listen to my car tonight at the track. it kinda sounds weird to me but then again ive never had a turbo car with an d/p before. thanks for all the advise tho. ill prolly just cut my old one.

I went for about 6-8 months without, on a stage 4 car. I wouldn't recommend it, but you shouldn't worry about damage from that alone.

Yeah, a dremel will do it. A set of $5 tin snips also does a great job. You will only be able to see the very top of it from the engine bay, so rough edges aren't a problem.
