I called Ron's but they didn't know what Motul was.

Thanks

The only thing about gear oil is that Subaru is a bit finicky about viscosity and syncro function. It has shifting issues when the oil thickens too much or is too slippery. The oil that works great is the one that has the correct viscosity, fluidity and alows enough friction for the syncros to do their job. Any oil that does this right will work great in our trannies. It's not like there are other problems to be concerned about. If you're putting through a LOT of torque, you may need extra protection, but that's about it.

I'm using Subaru Extra-S in the 6-speed and Subaru LSD oil in the diff.

DO NOT USE redline lightweight shockproof. It is not designed for Subaru transmissions. The solids in it will clog the splash lubricator.

Using Motul in both the trans and diff. I got the Gear 300 at a local Motorcycle shop. The diff lube I got through TIC.

I've tried Redline and Mutol 75W-90 and honestly the best is what came from the factory, which from reading iwsti.com is just plain old Valvoline 75W-90 dino oil. I got it from Checkers. For LSD Subaru-S is the best. I think the only year you gotta worry about is the '07 as they have a clutch type rear LSD, instead of mechanical.

Redline 75w90 w/one part Shockproof in the trans, and straight 75w90 in the diff.

Others use GM Synchromesh instead of the Shockproof in their cocktail.
