Arrow Track Attack Feedback!

Hey everybody,
Farid asked that we post up some feedback about the track day today. So here are a couple questions to get it started:

Did you like the longer sessions (15-25 minutes) we had today versus the shorter sessions of the past?

Would you like to have short course sessions also?

Time Attack wasn't able to happen today b/c of uncontrollable circumstances. But will be done later. Those who paid extra can get their money back, or maybe just get it credited until the next event.

Would anyone like to have 'instructors' of some sort ride with them, or drive their car, to show them the proper racing lines, and other helpful hints? Depending on 'who' is riding or driving, it may cost more.
If you just want someone that has more track experience to help by riding in, or driving, your car, we can do that too. It can help prevent these 'little' accidents we are having.

That's all I can think of for now, ... post up!

Having a seasoned instructor in the car is always a plus and is highly recommended. Without one, your not learning anything.

When I finally do make it out for a track day I would like to have someone in the car to give me a few pointers. I hope to make it out on the next track day..

I think it should go like this.....

We should have 4 runs

a) Run-1 w/ 1 heat - All the beginners on the short course, for learning w/ a ride along.

b) Run-2 w/ 3 heats - All the drivers on the short course

c) Run-3 & 4 w/ 3 heats- All the drivers on the long course.

I didn't go today (Family stuff), but should make it out in August. My 2 cents anyways...

I like Dan's idea of short track and long track. Some people may only want to run short track if they are running with stock brakes etc..

Good qualified instructors would be a plus and paying extra shouldn't be an issue. The BMW sponsored event was $200 and I learned a lot having an instructor with me the whole time.

How about 15 minute sessions on the short track and 20 minute sessions on the long track?

Talking first time

That was the first time I have ever run my car on the whole track. It was awesome. I personally like the long track. I think it would be great to have a instructor in the car and give me some tips, since I am sure I could use them a lot! . I also think the 12 minutes is a good time, cause my car and breaks are friggen hot and I think 25 minutes is a bit much. Instructors would be great, but how it went today was perfect, just the beginner group should have got to run one more time . Thanks again Farid.

What Dan posted is kinda what everybody wants in a way. The Advanced Group would most likely run first thing in the morning as usual, and then maybe filter into the short course sessions somehow. The 20-25 minute sessions are more for the Advanced group in my opinion, it obviously can be too much for someone that doesn't yet know how to 'conserve' their brakes, tires, etc.
As far as having ride along instructors, or someone to drive, there are many people in the advanced group that can ride or drive at no extra cost, if that would be good enough for people. Or I'm sure Farid could get paid instructors if people wanted them.

and Don't forget about the Time Attack! That is what will show you if you are improving or not!

Ride alongs are an excellent idea. When Ed rode with me he give me some very important tips on what lines to follow, and it helped a great deal. (Thanks Ed! ) Having advanced drivers ride along would be great, and I think the newer drivers would feel a lot more comfortable with peer instruction rather than some sort of paid "teacher".

I also observed, both in myself and others, quite a few people just want to "go fast". They end up taking all the turns too hot and blowing all their lines. Lotsa people have egos out there, but I think it needs to be emphasized that good driving technique is way more important than all out speed...

Yes, instructors would be good.
((Thanks again Ed! Showing me the lines & having me actually hitting them were 2 different things. Sorry for giving ya the butt clench exercises in the passenger seat. ))

Long track was FUN !! But i can't imagine doing that with stock brakes, tires, suspension, brake fluid. So Short Track should be used, too.

The time was good... kinda *long*... but i think that tested out driver's endurance & pacing.

Dunno exactly what time attack is.. but sounds fun..

so time attack would be 1 at a time or groups?

short track is nice too I figured they would have had it, because it's advertised on his website. I guess that's why at the last one I wasnt really prepared for the long track

It was still good fun though Having everyone there, even Richard hehehe.

hardly anyone goes to the drags anymore
