Timing belt adjustment HELP!!!
Whats up everyone, so i recently changed the timing belt on my 05 STI. Im pretty sure I lined up all the timing marks correctly. However now im getting 2 codes about my cams being over advanced and my car is running way rich. I'm sure someone has done a few timing belts before and i need someone that could help me out. Tried to have subaru fix the timing but since my car is heavily moded they wont work on it.

What timing belt are you using OEM or aftermarket? I had a Gates racing timing belt that didn't line up just right. Make sure the marks line up. Rotate engine and see if the marks line up again. Don't over tighten the tensioner it will strip the bracket. One tooth off will be noticeable. Marks maybe off a little but not a lot.

a little off is OK. when looking at it, try to visualize where cam mark would be if u moved it in either direction a tooth. sometimes, youll see it lines up better, other times, its way worse than it was. at that point, you know theres physically no other setting it can be at. any other adjustments needed other than that can be made up for with LICs adj idler bearing. i personally havent run it, but know couple people that have

Willing to pay out some money if someone can give me a hand getting the timing straight on my car. Just would hate to tear down my car and still not get the timing right and im not sure where or what I screwed up cause I thought I had it right.

Did you do any head work like resurface the heads or anything. If not you just have to recheck the marks again and make sure they line up. Going to have to pull the timing cover again. Redo the belt if off again you may try going to a OEM belt. I had two Gates so I just used the second one and it lined up a lot better.
