Timing Belt
Timing Belt
HOwzit, I have a 2002 WRX wagon and I'm approaching the 100,000 mile mark. Planning on changing my timing belt and water pump. What else do you guys think I should change? Where would be the best place to pick up the parts? I also just recently changed my HKS super sequential BOV back to my stock one, I shouldn't have any problems with that right. I have the recirculation valve for the super sequential, but the tube that it connects to is way too short, thats why I put the stocky back on. Thanks for the help.

consider changing the idlers while your in there....its a bit pricey but will save you the trouble in the long run. also the belt tensioner maybe a good idea. if you plan on doing this yourself make sure to pick up a cam gear wrench this helps hold gears in place while installing the belt. also it helps greatly to remove the idler below the tensioner when installing the timing belt.........goodluck

Ok if you are bring it to the dealer we are going recommend everthing but the timing cover seals. Thats timing belt, cam and crank seals, tensioner, idlers, water pump, thermostat and coolant. Going to around 1200 dollars. You can add more stuff that iNfEk posted in the thread with the two links. Yeah timing cost alot but with 100,000 I would change it.

Do yourself a favor and don't leave out the idlers like others have mentioned.
Pricey, but at least the labor is free since you're doing it yourself!
You're paying for the guarantee that your car will run at it's best for years to come. And YOU did it so you know it's good. Damn satisfying.
