think i blew my motor

hey all i know i don't post here, but has anyone had a problem from shifting from 5th to 4th at about 70mph. i did today i was going up h3 and went from 5th to 4th to pass a car and my engine went crazy, lost rpm big time in all gears after i pulled off the road i smelt ant-freeze and the got some electric fumes comming in through the heater vents.

i didn't hit 2nd by mistake, but i have a set of racing headers and an up pipe on the car, would those make the engine mess up.

i will find out when i hear from schuman tomm. praying the headers and up-pipe won't void the warenty..

i'll find that out tomm when i call schuman subaru.

Were you boosting? if so, how high? Have you checked your fluids recently?

thanx for the reply, but i don't run boost and fluids were cool. it's pretty wierd schuman is going to tear me up...lol

too bad, .... you should've tried to take off the headers at least before you took your car in, ... or too bad you couldn't.

so your up-pipe goes to a turbo that just sits there and causes restriction on your intake and exhaust?

Sweet design. Ever thought of adding some cross drilled brake lines to your car?

5th to 4th at 70 shouldn't be too big of a deal. My car his ~4k rpm at 60 in 4th gear. You shouldn't have even been close to redline at 70 when you dropped it a gear...

I don't think you spit a valve shim which would be the major concern...

Weird that you smelled coolant though.

Are you saying that you don't have a boost controller running elevated boost levels, or that your car isn't a turbo WRX?

Either way, good luck! It might have been worth your while to remove your mods before taking it to Schuman... You're a good man for having the "pay to play" mentality.
