Suspension question

I recently bought a 04 STI that came with coilovers. Due to the fact it is too low, I decided to raise it up a little. After I raised up, I notice my front left side is making some serious knocking noise. Sounds like something is going to fall off. I did a search and most of the knocking comes from Stock suspensions. Could there be anything loose besides the coilover? I checked all the bolts that secures the coilover but its done by hand power not by the impact gun thing. What are the possibilities? Thanks

Are you talking about the nut at the strut top? Is it on tight? If you hand tighten it, make sure the shaft doesn't spin with it as you tighten it. I used gripmat to hold the shaft and somebody else would tighten the nut. That's about as straight as I could make that sound

i didn't do the install for the coilover and when I check the nuts on top of the strut, everything is tight that i can't turn the nut anymore. The weird thing is that before I raised the car up there was no major noise issues. Thanks for your reply

which coilover did you have

and what did you do to solve the problem? Try and post up your solutions so that someone else with the same problem may be able to use your technique...

Feels good to have your car noise free again doesn't it...cool.

I probably misunderstood what sneezerboi was suggesting. I first thought he was talking about the 3 nuts holding the strut plate, then I realize it was the nut in the middle under the stiffness adjuster. It was very loose, so after I tighting it up, no noise at all.
I have the Helix coilover.

Ok, well I just had that same problem on the o6. They replaced my strut and mount, the knocking when away when I was traveling in neutral. But as I went over little curbs and bumps, I heard another knocking sound. They said that my sway bar was loose. So after they tightened it, I had no more noise.

I hope this helps. Good luck.
