Sti Wing tension?

Has anyone replaced the trunk tensioners(i guess thats what you call it). My trunk just falls down and slams hard. Do I need to go and get some new ones.

i'm assuming you didn't have a wing with your wrx or rs when you purchased it and now have a sti spoiler. due to the additional weight of the spoiler what you're experiencing is normal. you will need to replace your trunk torsion bars with sti ones. it's a pain to replace them and technically you need a special took to remove them properly but you can do it without it. I recommend having someone else with you when removing the torsion bars. your trunk will just fall without it.

Sorry I should have mentioned that I have a 06 sti. Just one day the trunk lost it's tension. I had a 02 wrx without a wing and I bought a wing and I changed the torsion bar to fix that tension problem. So I assume the torsion bars is the problem. I was just going to buy some new torsion bars but just wanted to post message before I went just in case it could be something else.

Check if the torsion bar came off. They usually don't but it's possible

Wow that'd be a pretty loud twang if the bar came off. Those basards are a pain in the *** to take off...I've done it once and will never do it again. If I ever get another sedan and go from winged to wingless I am just gonna put some magnetic weights to offset the loss of the wing.

It honestly takes <2 minutes per torsion bar. Yes even the STi ones. Just get a big screw driver and pop them out. really quick and simple.
