Yeah ted, i hear ya. I've been followed for miles, then pulled over, only to be told that my rear wing on my wagon is illegal, and also rear stickers are illegal. I was upset, told him the wing is stock, and he said i was being a smartass, and was gonna take me in. I also said about rear stickers, what about all those people with trucks and suv's with the large in memory of type stickers blocking view. All i have is the small colin mcrae memoriam sticker.
He had the nerve to say who was that, one of your ricer friends who died street racing? I almost lost it, and told him he needs to respect the deceased, and shut his mouth. He said he was gonna take me in for talking back to a cop. I told him to take me in, but first call it in, so they know what i'm being brought in for. Just then his sargent pulls up, and asks if he needs help. But the cop said no, and the sargent chastized him for bothering me, and apologized. I drove off quite upset, but thesde things happen here. It's called profiling, and i'm sure many cops enforce it.

well... for all that I've done to my car as of late.. the lack of a wing 'may' have saved me..
I was paced 2x this afternoon while departing the downtown area.
My lack of a Suby 'rumble' may also have helped.
glanced in my mirrors a couple of times, looked like they were looking for a reason, (including driving EXACTLY the speed limit while I slowly generated a gap between them and my car from each stoplight.) I didn't care, i did my usual 3-4mph over posted (per my speedometer) which reads 2mph fast anyway)
*knock on wood*... I think they're REALLY looking at stuff to get us for. even just to pull us over so they can find more reasons. Doesn't phase me much as I don't have much they can '*****' about.
wheels are under the fenders, license plates are all there. no wing, exhaust at idle is acceptable. (but exhaust isn't recon-able anymore), suspension ride-height is "barely perceptable as dropped".... tint is legal.
wheel size is only +1 (18's vice 17's)...
the rest... I guess they'll have to REALLY try hard to find something ticket-able (short of me speeding 7mph over posted which rarely (if ever) happens)

I had my ex-gf drive one day because i was super tired and we drove into waikiki. foot patrol pulled her over for rolling past a stop line without stopping. i know she stopped. she fought it with the officer that she stopped, but they insisted that she didn't. one of the cops were like, "This your car?" (tells you a lot right there) and she was like, no it's his, and pointed to me in the passenger. right then and there, he went up to my front bumper and checked for an FMIC, probably searching for lack of a front bumper support. then i watched him go from left to right in front of my car to see if my wheels stuck out!! i was like, omg...

I'm so glad I don't have to put up with that stupid **** anymore how long do STI's have to be on the street for cops to realize that the spoiler is stock. I don't any any inspections to deal with here not even smog..
hmm, I lived off of the pali and worked in town for the past 4 years and I have never had a problem.
My car looks stock and sounds stock so I guess I get passed by.
One of the recon issues we are working on is training the HPD. It is obviously a problem when those who enforce the rules do not know them.
And cops usually approach with an attitude so that they intimidate you. That is basic training, do not make it personal.

That was me. I usually give i-club members a break. Yeah I know of some officers that just love the power trip and whats worst is that they are not up on all of the traffic laws. My motto when I got into the department 10 years ago was to try to change the outlook that the public had on the department by being respectful and professional at ALL TIMES with everyone. I was able to change the minds of some people but it seems like an uphill battle if you know what I mean. Most times people write about the negative contacts with officers and not any positive contacts. But then again when is it really positive when an officer pulls you over.........

very very nice hahahaha..yeh when a LEO go to a call they are always going to a heated fight thats why you call the cops. and then the cops look like the bad guys when they were the ones that were brought into a heated call in the first place. i respect cops just don't like the ones with there head up there ***. i find lots to be cool and some are willing to learn from you when the know/realize they were in the wrong.

You know what they say about walking a mile in someone elses shoes. But like I always say everyone deserves respect until it is not given in return...... And to me that goes in both directions! I just wish some officers would take a step back, take a deep breath and talk to people like you would want someone else to talk to your mother, father, wife, etc. and maybe just maybe the department would get a lot more respect then it does today.

sorry, but i will have to disagree with you on that one as i've met and known some HPD's (including my wife's cousin) who are really cool! i think my judgement of a cop being rude and obnoxious and one that is being firm and assertive but respectful is based on my own opinion and experience.

nice to know that someone from HPD lurks here...ooopss. but like i said in my first post, i have lots of respect for the men and women in blue. and thank you for being one of those who want to try to make a difference instead of being the accepted norm. i know it's not easy but believe me, you are making a difference somehow.
