Question Sti exhaust vs. 3" turbo back no cat

Hi i was wondering if the difference between sti stock exhaust setup and a 3" turbo back catless would be a lot... i kinda don't like having a loud exhaust and want something quieter... but then i don't wanna lose any power if someone could help on this i would appreciate it thanks..

sti catback is good but the down pipe you have is the same. get a downpipe, i think lostuncertain might still have an hks for sale and the sti catback and you should be good. not too loud and good power gains.

Tiare has a catless dp and the stock cat back. Very quiet at idle and throaty when you open it up. Would fit your quiet criteria.

I am running a stock airbox (STi, right 2.5DOHC?) STi up-pipe to WRX Down pipe and STi exhaust from there. You can barely hear it at idle. Not sure how loud it is when it's WOT though. You probably can't hear it over my squealing Crap Master RE92s of Fury...

you won't loose any. most of the power comes from not having any cats. should be good to something like 350hp with a 2.5" exhaust

I've had both a hks 3" and sti catback, the sti makes the car feel zippier at lower speeds, more low end torque, the hks allows better top end.

+1. I searched this one too. Good up to 325-350 with any 2.5" exhaust. Most people think that bigger is better, but not always. With a stock vf39 turbo, you're all good. Keep the STi one for the stealth look. Or if you want, there are quite a few 2.5" exhaust available that are still fairly quiet if you want that aftermarket look.

I'm on a stealth setup on my 04 STi. Perrin catless dp into a 3" Maddad flex joint midpipe into the OEM axle back painted flat black.

It's got a rumble at idle, but doesn't drone and at WOT it's loud enough.

I'm about to commit heresy here, but I don't like the boxer rumble as much as others. I'm not into the "vulu vulu" sound.

When I can afford it I'm going equal length headers. No Pro Street Vanagon sound for me! ...and scoopless hood, wingless trunk. The ricers will think I'm some Honda Accord

I'm not going that far as to install equal length headers, but I don't try to make the boxer sound louder than it already is from the factory.

Most Suby owners try to tell others that they have a boxer engine by installing fart cans (flame suit on). These cars get so loud with catbacks that it's embarrassing.

I like sleeper cars (I realize that it's hard to make a STi a sleeper).

My motto is: "I would rather sneak up behind you and slit your throat, than hit you in the face with a sledgehammer."

With that in mind, what would be the quiet equivilent to a greddy custom downpipe and rs-r exhaust?
