Ditto ^^
Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Specs
Best set of tires I've puchased. Only bummer thing is be careful during the few days while driving it'll kick-up quite a few loose gravels.

I'm LOVING my Star Specs. Then again, I haven't experienced the Nittos yet so this opinion doesn't really count, ha ha! Keep in mind the Star Specs hang with tires like the RE11s and the AD08s while costing significantly less. However, the Star Specs could use a slightly stiffer sidewall.

You can call Turn in Concepts for their thoughts on the Nittos...I THINK they were going to try to race on those this season (for contingency money) until they were dissatisfied by the tires.

They never really posted what they thought of them but I am sure they will give you their off-the-cuff review as long as you don't quote them...this is from them using a really beat up set of Star Specs last year through the One Lap of America and almost all of their runs for the Redline Time Attack. That's a crapload and a half of use if you think about it and they were winning even when the tires were really worn out.

Yeah I read about TiC's experience with them. And I don't doubt their expertise. But I also read someone else that tested the two and said overall the nittos have better dry grip and steering response. They still swore by the star specs but said that driving with the nittos requires more skill because theyre less forgiving as the dunlops. Something along those lines. I know the dunlops would be great, but im thinkin the nittos might be overlooked because theyre fairly new? Plus cheaper.

Try the Kumho XS. Got them on the race car. Good stuff.

Yeah Kumho XS is even more race-prepped than the Star Specs to me...but pretty horrible in the wet. The star specs are like the utmost summer max performance tire you can get for everyday use for the money.

Autocrossed Starspecs this passed season in both wet and dry conditions, they are excellent tires and I highly reccomend them.

Also look into the Federal 595RSR. I brought these tires out to Streets of Willow and they are amazing for the price (even cheaper than the star specs). There's a lot of S2k guys using them and have said they are posting their fastest times on these tires over RE01Rs, star specs, etc.

I've had RE01Rs and can say the 595RSRs were on par or faster than these tires. They even deliver a consistent feel and exhibited little slip when run for 20min around the track. I will run these tires at Willow Springs in two weeks and will report back again on their progress.

Also, these tires run way wider than what they're listed as.
