as long as you have a decent record you shouldnt max out on the fine and im sure you wont have to see any jail time. (at least thats how i see it)
First off, contest it and hope the cop doesn't show up. Second, if he does, plead guilty w/ an explanation. The investment in time will at least get you tagged for a lesser charge, if the judge is understanding. BTW, is your record clean of speeding tix? If so, make sure to state that. They tend to give you a break. Sorry, I didn't read all the posts, so sorry if I missed something.

What is all of this that the cop has to show up? He doesn't have to be there if he submits a written statement. BTW, I really want to ride any animal recklessly in disregard of the safety of persons.

Because this forum is not a place to bad mouth police. While there may be some crooked, hella shady police, especially in Hawaii do not post about them in general. Hoppie, and the other police on this forum are out there busting their asses to eat donuts 
, ... er ahem I mean to protect and serve us. Bad cops are definitley the exception not the rule. I think I've run into damn near every shady cop on Hawaii, but I really don't hold a grudge against them. Please just keep the bad mouthing of police to yourself or do it in private.
