1.Just remember, don't over drive the car. You sometimes need to go slow to go fast. 2.Watch your entry speed and exit fast. Let your ABS work for you rather than pumping.
3.Feathering the gas through turns helps to keep your momentum if you don't drive left foot breaking w/ same time throttle to keep boost up.
4.Focus on being smooth and not muscling the car around corners.
5. Expriment w/ your tire pressure. Ask the fast guys what they're running. Always check and adjust pressures right after a run.
6. Walk the track w/ an experienced driver and always look ahead when driving or all you will see is cones flying at ya or missing gates disqualifying your run.

See you ao on Sunday!

sorry but what exactly does feathering the gas mean?

instead of mashing the throdle, then taking your foot off the throdle during turns...your foot is still lightly on the throdle white turning...

I hope you're only kidding, Nate. Not trying to be an asshat here, but there are reasons why they don't allow other non- seasoned drivers to instruct new drivers. Safety is one, correct driving technique is another. There have been instances where it's happened and **** got screwed up. I'm sorry you guys got an *** reaming the last time, but it's for everyone's safety. I used to think that SCCA rules and regs were a bunch off bullsh!t. Some are, but no matter what, you, we- all of us- have to abide by them. In that situation, where there are no instructors available, ask someone who has already raced. I never got a instructor on my first runs...it never screwed me up...

i never saw nate's post until now...

*I* was the one who scolded you...i looked in your direction when mentioning this, but i didnt mention any names either, so as not to embarass you...safety is the PRIMARY concern why instructors are there...you only raced what, 2 times before??? and think you know enough to instruct somebody??? i dont know your skill level or experience, but if someone is to instruct someone else, the event officials need to know that the instructor has the experience and knowledge to handle any situation that may come up- eg- what to do in a spin, or when to slow down more, etc...and frankly, you're new to the hawaii solo 2 community- we dont know you yet...

maybe you wanted to help out, or maybe you wanted to show off that you could be an instructor, i dunno...like joey said, we've seen instances go bad at racing, and our #1 goal is that we want everyone to go home with themselves and their car in one piece...

if something went bad, and there was a crash- how would we explain it to the insurance company that a novice was out instructing another novice??? the rules are there for a reason, and like them or not, they have to be followed...

if you dont wanna help out, fine...it's up to you...
