Shipping from mainland to HI
Shipping from mainland to HI
Hey gang looking to get your $.02. I have unfortunately loss my 04 sti in a tragic accident. Luckily both parties were safe. To get to the point, I can't live without another sti so I am debating whether I should buy an sti up here in Nebraska drive to CA and ship back home or if I should just wait to buy in HI? Can you buy decent sti's in HI that are stock with low miles? Also has anyone ever shipped to HI from the mainland? I would like to start looking into it so I'm able to budget accordingly and make the best financial decision. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again guys and girls!

personally I would check the classifieds in Hawaii and at your location to find the best deal. I would rather find a low mileage and non modded STi and splurge out the extra cash to ship it than not to find what you are looking for in Hawaii. Remember Hawaii is small, so selection will be small. But that is not to say that a good deal does not exist in Hawaii. Again research.......

Awesome. That's reasonable and nothing difficult at all with process. I had this assumption that you could only have a certain level of gas and other procedures. They mentioned that they will inspect the vehicle both on-boarding and upon arrival. I'm assuming this is just for safety precautions and not to inspect that my vehicle would be HI safe!? I can guarantee you that it will not have any cats haha!

Horizon and Matson are the two major companies that ship from the Mainland to HI. I went with Horizon to and from HI, and it was about $1000 each way. The shipping process is pretty straightforward, and customer service was always there to answer all my questions. However, the registration process is a bit more convoluted and you have to be patient/have lots of time to take care of everything. I've done a writeup here on HIIC on everything that has to be done; if you're interested, run a search for it. Good luck.

what years are you looking for. that might help. also one thing you gotta take into account is the tragedy in japan. used car prices are gonna hit the roof. 04-05sti's here are already hard to find and even harder when there not modded.
we have already been told that our sjipment from japan has been delayed and that our next two orders that we made have be cancelled on us. so we arent gonna get many impreza's or foresters for a while. and this is not just a hawaii thing this is gonna be nation wide. scion here in hawaii has already hit the fan. there XBs are sold out! you wont be able to get one of those till maybe the beginning of the year if your lucky. we have already sold out of WRXs. were just waiting on our next shipment which was delayed but made it out of japan in time and there is only 3 WRXs on that boat. so just giving you the heads up here on whats going on.

I am looking for an 04-07 sti; preferably 06-07. I have my eye on a 04 WRB STI with 24k but asking for $22k. I would much rather buy a hawkeye with slightly higher miles for $22k.
I would probably just look for a good deal on an STi somewhere on the mainland. You'll have a much larger selection and it'd be a cool road-trip to one of the port cities (L.A., Seattle, etc.).
Not to mention you can stop at one of the major tuner shops on your way to the port and maybe have some work done or pick up some parts.
