servco subaru bad juju
why do people that work at subaru dealerships such a--holes anyways heres what happened so i went to servco subaru the other day cuz i needed struts and just wanted a quote talked to the parts guy that worked there named Rick...He was just standing around talking to his buddy when i got there and i was the only customer there he had as soon as i ask him to give me a quote he decides to make a phone call to ask someone else about a part they ordered after waiting patiently for 3-5 mins for him he finally helps me had him look it up and qouted me around $700 for 1 strut then i showed him a pic on my phone asking him if its the same as the one on my phone(red 04 sti strut) guy doesnt even look at the picture and tells me "i cant tell you i dont know" even asked him is it red at least tells me he doesnt know until he orders it and i buy it. bad experience the whole time there talking to him why work as a subaru parts guy if you dont know s**t about the subaru cars and now know i know why people talk so much smack about subaru dealerships but...the most messed up part about this story is i go to a Ford dealership and try to order the part from them and they quote me only $187!! the ford guy calls the subaru dealership and is ordering it from them a fraction of what the subaru guy wanted to charge me does he pocket the rest of the money he wanted to charge me i dont get it...whew anyways just complaining such a bad bad experience was so pissed the whole day atleast the saleman was nice there was asking question about the white 2011 sti they had there
Hmm...dunno, sorry about what happened, but from my experience all those guys are extremely cool and very helpful. Also, I find it best to use part#s when identifying/buying parts from the dealer that way both parties know exactly what part you want.
Atleast you got it down to $187 though, so did the ford dealership call up a mainland subaru dealership?

WOW! 1st bad comment I have ever heard about Rick, EVER! Even when I went to him to warranty my seat belts and it was obvious I had a interior swap from 05 in a 01 they were still going to work with me. Unfortunately I moved before they could install them for me.

not gonna get much sympathy here. you went into a dealership asking for a part without a part number and expected to get a hookup? i would have tried to take your money too. next time do a little research or call them before you go down and pull a noob move. fyi repair shops are not supposed to sell parts for their cost. they get a discounted rate from the dealership and are supposed to mark them up similar to what the dealership charges them. he also might have quoted you for the whole strut assembly and not just the strut. with top hat and spring $700 sounds about right.

I el oh el'd at this thread. 187 for a Sti strut. Are u sure ur guy quoted u for a Sti strut and not a wrx. I mean if u have a Sti u should know parts for that car is not cheap. Ur parts guy might have quoted u on a wrx instead. Rick takes care of a the iclub guys and he will read this.
If ur guy did order u the wrong part that will suck to be u. Rick will order parts for ur car off of ur VIN. If it isn't made for ur car and u order it anyways and it doesn't fit then ur stuck since he told u it wasn't for ur car in the first place.

Nice 2nd post. As other people have stated, do your research. Subarugenuineparts.com has the STi strut/spring kit for $1350. https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/p...roducts_id=903 I don't know how much shipping would be, but you can find out for yourself. Just because you have a Subaru, don't expect everyone to freely give you all of the answers.
Rick has always been courteous to me, even when they were moving from the old service building (by Rex Tire). If I had a question about a part, he would show me the screen he was looking at. I'm pretty sure it would have been like a drawing from the service manual (NOT IN COLOR).
$187 (employee) vs $700 (walk in), really? If you really wanted to help our community, you could have offered other people your "employee" discount instead of reminding us how much the parts cost. Hopefully it's the correct part you're looking for.
WTF are you saying +1 to? Nice contribution to this thread.
