Seen this in the dealership- Big Island Honda

http://automobiles.honda.com/civic-si-sedan/mugen.aspx

BI Honda- Kona had one
BI Honda Hilo had one too

from the website it says limited to 1000 units $29,500

However, the sticker here is $36,500

Yikes! It's pretty cool, but at that price too many cars come into play, new and slightly used.

I dunno, what's your take ? Opinions? Would you or wouldn't you drive or buy one. I've been out of hondas for 4 years now, but i may get into this one, if i was shopping for a honda.

Wait a minute...a Civic pushing over $30k. Now I've seen everything.

What ever happened to the Civic being an entry level econo box???

Boy...that Mugen crap must fetch top dollar.

Mugen parts are not crap. How many other "tuner" brands have a presence in F1? ......and they have always had close ties to Honda, but at that price....hmmmm I'll pass.

I SEEN THE PICS! HAHA! well no honda (besides the NSX) is worth 30k+ you gotta be kidding me! idk some kid got his dad to buy him one down the street from my friends house & he always stares at us all hard. i know this aint the right thing to be doing but i know a guy with an STi that pulled on him like they werent even racing. idk i guess the Mugen Si is more of a collector kinda thing.

I think if you buy this and don't drive it,the value will pretty much hold. Honestly,as a collectors car it's great, as a drivers car it sucks. I can't see buying a car as limited as this and beating the crap out of it,and having it depreciate to common civic status which is exactly what will happen. That being said, buy an Si sedan and mod it to your hearts content, or buy this and hope a future collector pays you 50k for the low mileage Mugen Civic in the year 2020.

yeah it's basically a collector car.

Mugen stuff is extremely expensive...who knows if its all really worth it?

Anyways, just buy it and store it somewhere air/water tight.

You guys are actually calling a Civic a collector's car. Give me a break. Now a Lotus Elan is a collector's car or a E Type Jag. A Civic is not. I don't care if it carries over 100 Mugen badges. It's just a Civic, an econo box mass produced car.

I saw one today at the dealership and had to stop from laughing out loud at the sticker.

BTW I was looking at a S2000 which was just a little more than that "exclusive" Civic.

Have you ever seen what an original set of mugen rims go for? If you can even find a set!! Mugen is more than some aftermarket wannabe, they are true engineers of quality parts exclusive to Honda. I don't want to start an argument, but seriously no other manufacturer is so closely tied to a company more than Honda is to Mugen.I'm not saying I would buy this car,but honestly if someone did keep a first year example of this car in pristine condition,it would be as sought after as a 22B,S02,RB5,or any other limited production car, including your lotus, jaguar,or whatever you consider a collectors car. Just my humble opinion. I just wish we could get the japanese Mugen RR version, now that would have me selling my first born!!! Oh wait nobody wants Brennen,I tried that already!!!

I can't see the Civic being sold at a Barret-Jackson auction at all.

Collector cars imply a level of obscurity and rarity. The fact that the car is available in mass produced numbers in almost every Honda dealership world wide would be an argument against it being a collector's car.

Now the 22B, I completely agree with that being a collector piece, given the small number of units produced and the small markets in which it was sold.

As for original Mugen rims. I agree that those parts are probably "collector" parts, but I see no similarity between the current Civic in the dealerships and those rims other than they have Mugen badging on them.

OK, its a nice looking car, but I would wait for performance figures before giving judgment. At 30K it has to be offer more than what it is currently touting for me to be interested. Mugen is to Honda what STi is to Subaru, and I am kinda disappointed that they neglected to upgrade the brakes on the car. If an SER can get Brembos, why couldn't the Mugen edition have better brakes. I guess the brakes are adequate in reigning the car's horsepower figures. Now if the car was a two-door, that would be something wouldn't it?
