Scooby builds

Not new to hawaii but new to all the recon crap here.

So I built my 08 wrx while I was deployed and was part of a subaru group on the mainland. No issues and could do and build what we wanted. We even tracked a few of ours.

To me it seems pointless that I brought mine here because it won't pass recon even though there are worse things on the road like lifted toy trucks and hondas put together with duct tape.

I don't see any fun or enthusiasm you can have here with our subbies with all the recon laws on the only island that does this.

So what mods have you guys been able to pass without putting everything back to OEM?

I have the almost the same, how did you pass recon with your coilovers? Im not changing my specs because they were already professionally built to my tuner.

You need an alignment within 30 days and they do a "bounce test" they push down on your suspension to make sure it's not too stiff, some people say it has to travel 2 inches but when he pressed down on mine it didn't move at all and he said it was good lol

if you are going for recon and you have modified your suspension then you are going to need the alignment papers to show that you are within stock specs.. but you could call around and just see if someone is willing to make you up a paper but not touch your suspension and just make up a paper for you. Every time i got an alignment i just said im going for recon and they just fudge it to make it work

So it was because of your coils that you did not pass?

Ya the safety inspector said because I have coilovers I have to recon. I called recon and told them my alignment has been set as per my mechanic with my setup. If you put my 08 next to a 2013 STI it sets the same height both front and back. If I was to put it back to OEM alignment it would not be correctly aligned with my tires I have on there now. I'm running a meaty setup for a reason, partial for estetics and the other for handling and less body roll. Which is also why I have my Feal 441's. So far nobody wants to touch it even to just give me a readout of how far off they want it to factory specs.
