Saturday night at the track ROCKS!

Had some fun tonight at the dragstrip...

1. Track was DEAD. I didn't get there until ~9:45pm and I was #121. I didn't wait more than 5 mins to run all night (and I made 6 passes with plenty of cool down time between each).

2. My car likes to spin tires. Everytime I could get a good roast out of the tires (whether it was due to 50psi tire pressures or because I took Reg's/Raudi's advice and rolled through the water on stock pressure) I ran 12 second e.t.'s all night. When I slipped the clutch more than I spun the tires I went 13.0's @ 103.7x...

3. Met Russ and his friend Lad - good to finally be able to put a face to the handle! Come on out and drag race that beastie! It's fun!

4. Jon ALMOST got another 13-second timeslip tonight... I think he went 14.0 @ 104mph... That's hauling on the top end!

5. $8 for 2 hours of fun is a GREAT deal...

Rich,

I thought you were a nice guy.

Any positive or negative results with dropping the boost, raising the timing?

Sorry for rubbing it in, Guys!

I didn't play with the boost (still hovering up there around 19.5psi) but played a lot with tire pressure.

I didn't mess much with timing except to fatten up the curve from 4,500+ instead of concentrating on 6k and up...

Didn't get any personal bests, but the weather wasn't the absolute best either.

Wow, that is some mAd BoOsT, yO!. Seriously, Rich, IMHNO (In my Humble N00b Opinion) that seems too much. However, I do not doubt that you know what you are doing.

Are you serious about the 50psi? How is the ride. I get my Azenis anywhere near 40psi and it's a rough rough ride.

Oh well, back to the Bacardi, I go.

Was just talking to Wes about this last night. Seems like we have to "overdrive" our turbos just a bit down here in Hawaii to make power. Not sure of the exact reason behind this - but I believe we're just trying to negate a bit of the "Hawaii Triangle" factor where we run slower than our mainland counterparts.

I'd feel more comfortable getting the boost down to 18.5psi or so, but one of the nice things about the UTEC is that it gives me the ability to tune around the boost I want to make. Not that it's got me very far, but it's nice to know the possibility exists.

Yep, 50psi in the Azenis. They're rock hard and will jar all your fillings loose in short order but it's a small price to pay on the drive to and from the track to turn the #'s!

overdriving turbo in Hawaii

I think it has to deal with density altitude.
I forgot the computations from flight school.
Joey should know.
Even at night at a given temperature your car could be acting like it was at 2000-3000 feet elevation.
If it affects small aircraft with takeoff distance here it will a affect a car.

Hehehehe... Don't worry it'll be in as soon as I can get some money!

Anyone care to donate to the cause?

Accepting donations for me to put in my TC so I can be the 1st 12 second 4EAT on the island!

If someone were to give me $600 (should be around $500 though) I'll get it installed and give you the change!
