i guess this is a newbie thing again....

don't worry about what the bov sounds like buy a bov because it works. sounding mean, looking mean doesn't matter if you don't have the upgrades to justify the bov anyway.

true about that,,,,,but i have upgrades,,,,,uppipe, downpipe, tmic, txs utec, intake, hks carbon ti exhaust,,,255 fuel pump,,,sti injectors,,,and tein coilovers,,,,if you go vakamon,, they have a evo with the sard racing blow off valve and i heard its better then the hks or the rfl...better spool up between shifts plus that blow off valve has no gaskits or clips to worry about wearing out......

Jon is right..Just the Sard BOV alone wont make that fluttering sound your describing...trust me i have that bov as well ....i have noticed on every other car w/a FMIC it has that cool fluttering..but not with the Subie TMIC...

i ran it on a 04'wrx w/cobb 2.5 (vf-34), jdm STi tmic, uppipe, intake, ETC. and it did not sound like what you describe...

if you dont beleive us.. then by all means try it for yourself...i did..LOL

good luck

I'm sure I've posted this before... but the fluttering sound comes from compressor surge -- the turbine blades pulse through the air due to the bov being too tight and air having to escape back into the turbo. This is not a good situation because it can damage the turbine. You can make almost any bov have the fluttering noise provided they can be tightened enough to keep the air from escaping properly.

So how did it sound? Anything remotely similar to an HKS? Greddy?

this is true...usually when you start hearing a fluttering noise comming from the Passenger (turbo) side of the engine bay and not the BOV side that usually is a sign of something bad...
