Rear Right Strut on the STi

This problem might be for WRXs too. Just curious if aftermarket struts still make this noise that sounds like I have Jimmy Hoffa in my trunk.

the strut clunk or knock (mostly the rear) is normal for sti's my version 5's on my GC do it. I have been lucky with my sti so far and I am running version 9's with jdm sti pinks

if you want a temporary remedy jack the rear up put some oil on the strut shaft (the silver part) and then lower the jack. repeat this about 4 or 5 times......this will remedy it for about a week. i know it sounds strange but believe me it works.

I have it too

I have it too on my STI 06. It is annoying. But nothing a good sound system can't fix. I had mine replaced a couple of times. One guy at the subaru dealer said that it was like my brakes making that noise. Funny hun?

I'm not surprised about that.... Suby dealer shops need to burn down with their techs inside....just my opinion. <--- bad experience

The clunk is a problem with the inverted strut used on the STi, what you may have is probably noise from using solid pillowball mounts which most coilovers have. I have Cusco Zero 2Es with the solid pillowball mounts. The NVH is up, but it is a trade-off for more precise handling.
