i used to race them in socal in tourney's...

i had a TL XXS and XXXS pro electrics, best chassis at that time..

0-80++ in 2 seconds on both of them. i still have the xxxs in a box, i fried the speed control by putting too much power thru it running too low of a motor hah, 7turns are/were pretty powerful.

i was looking to get back into it as well, i can check around again and link you some sites i used to use if they still exist if you want.

I used to drift rc with Myroncuz, infek, 808sti, ****, and a few others at one point. I'm on my 2nd sti body on a tamiya tb-02 chassis. I'd bring it out again if others bring theirs back out too.

Minis are fun due their size and you wont need a large area to play...
Don't worry about the speed,..just go Lipo battery and put in a Mamba motor and you'll go plenty fast...

Just gotta know what you will want either tarmac or off road...
getting a Mini-Tor maybe the 18t truck or 18B buggy (AWD) would be alot of fun..
Check out Aloha Hobby at 99 Ranch by the post office...got good prices if you can't wait for ebay or Tower Hobby online...

Gas is fun too, but too much mess and more cost and maintanance to do....I like to charge and go....Good luck

I got myself a Traxxas Revo 2.5 right before they came out w/ the 3.3's I like to 'do it in the dirt' more than on the street. With the Revo, you can go either way. Suspension mods & tire setup can make it streetable. Gotta have a bit of patience with nitro though. Tuning & maintenance takes some time compared to the electric r/c's. Not to mention having to find an area to run off-road. Waipio Regional Park has a good spot @ the top end for some bashing. Even took my truck out to Sandy's a few times. It's up to you though on what you plan on running and what kind of money you're willing to put into it. Once you get addicted, it can become an expensive hobby.

what are you interested in doing? grip, drift, off road, crawling, drags?

every other sunday at sandy flemmings in pearl city we race electric grip on-road TC's, 1/10 minis and 1/12th scale.

this sunday weather permitting we have a race, come check it out. we also post on www.hawaiitalks.net to schedule races, tech talk etc.

theres also race world hawaii at the kunia box car place, they got like 2-3 paved tracks too. heard its pretty awesome for drifting, but kinda crappy for grip.
