Quick question

Didn't have time to look because I'm heading off to work but while changing my oil today I couldn't get my filter off with my hands so I turned for my filter wrench and the bich is no where to be found. I could not for the life of me remove the old filter. So I had no choice but to add my new oil. My question is if I get a wrench and take off the filter with the oil pan full will I loose a bunch of oil or just the oil that is in the filter? From what I can see it is just what is in the filter but I want to make sure. Hopefully I don't loose a bunch because I went big with some unexpected gift $$ and threw down on royal purple. Always wanted to try that stuff

Oh and the reason I didn't just put the old oil back in is because I used one of those catch boxes with that absorbent fuzzy stuff

youre gonna lose whatever is in the filter. shouldnt be more than a quart but just in case. and you might wanna buy 2 more quarts cause royal purple has the tendency to burn off in our cars

You will lose about 1/3 quart.

You can always stab a screwdriver through the filter to get it off...as long as you aren't planning on reusing the filter. haha

In a pinch, you if dont have an oil wrench, you can use a screwdriver and poke a hole thru it and use the handle to loosen it...

You will have to only be able to hand tighten the new filter though if you're worried about it being tight for sure and no leaks.

That was my plan but I was really strapped for time. I had to use a door **** hold cutter back in the day on my aerio. Wrenches wouldnt get it off. I might just try by hand when I get home because that engine will be nice and HOT and maybe it will flex loose or something. Going to hurt but thats what skin graphs are for duh
