Question about front license plate
I've been noticing that there a lot of cars without front license plates.
So did they pass a law that we don't need to have them up anymore or is it only for newer car that don't have the bracket?

I never put my front license plate on until I got a fix-it ticket for no front plate a few months ago. Now it stays on, although I hate how it looks. It is technically an infraction so there's always a chance of being cited.

I`ve been without front plates on my 02WRX since August 2001, but finally decided to mount them in 2012. Never got pulled for it either.

Since this is a Hawaii thread, here's a Hawaii response.
Yes, it is required by Law to have a front plate. With that being said, I haven't had my front plate on since 2008. I've been ticketed for it once, I was stopped at a DUI checkpoint and not asked if I was drinking or where I was going. First question he asked me was "Where's your front plate?"
So if you like drinking and driving, put your plate on, because without it, guarantee you'll get stopped!
Or.... just don't drink and drive.

Ok. OFFICIALLY, you need one mounted on the front of your vehicle. There used to be a height requirement, but that has been changed. As long as there is one mounted on the front bumper, you're fine.
And technically it has to be at the furthest most part of your vehicle. Mike Hunt got my friend for that.

for the past year, i drive the Subaru maybe twice a week and i never run front plates, nor have i ever gotten a fix it ticket. i removed bumper, ran screws from inside out (thread poking out of front of bumper)and keep the nuts on the threads. i have my plate in my trunk and when i get pulled over for no front plates: "Officer, i have my plate in the back and i can put it on in 2 minutes" hopefully you get a cool cop and he lets it slide.
but the whole deal with new cars not even having holes for mounting is pretty dumb, IMO. maybe just a general thing they do as not all states have a front plate law? idk.

Hah i just kept my plate on.. i hate the look of it but what you gonna do? its the law. hah
in the Bay Area, Ca...the city banks with the license plate because people pass through the toll every day. you can even get a ticket for just parking in the street without a front plate. The meter maids give you an easy citiation ticket.. its like 30-40 bucks. It cost to live in the city. I lived there for a good 3 years and just had enough front plate tickets.
