I told a guy I'd buy his Wilwood/Perrin setup, but I think he just took off on vacation.

Just out of curiousity, what's the general feeling about AEM's brake kit? It's very affordable for front and rear.

Also, what about DBA rotors? Are they crappy in general?

HUH? What happened to what we all talked about?

I'm no expert, but I've been seriously considering Stoptech's stage 2 package. Relativley affordable, and should suit your needs......click on link and search for stage 2 WRX

How about the AVO/STI a little down the page?

No offense,

but why would you think about spending $1400+ for that kit when the Stoptech kit isn't to much more? I have 16" wheels. Stoptech wasn't an option for me. But if I had 17" wheels that cleared, I'd have bought the Stoptechs or possibly the 330mm TWR Racing kit. What size wheels are you running?

STi 4 Piston Front Brake Kit - Impreza
$625.00
Will not fit under stock GDA rims. Fits all Imprezas. Comes with calipers, pads, clips and hardware. GC8's require rotors. 22B style red calipers are optional for $60.
See initially I saw this. Even though I actually asked about the $1400 STI/AVO kit, I was more interested in the kit quoted above...with the AVO or DBA rotors. I just referred you to the $1400 kit below it because it looked like a better ad in order to ask opinions of.

If you plan on using 16" wheels,

your options are limited. What is the smallest wheel you will be using? That's going to be the limiting factor for rotor size. I don't think you've mentioned anything (except pads, lines, and fluid) that will fit 16s. If 17s (or larger) that fit are in order, the Stoptechs are a no-brainer.

I've got a set of 16's and just got some 17's. From a pragmatic standpoint, I was hoping that I could get some really nice brakes that would be every bit as good as anything out there, that would fit 17' and 16" rims, and wouldn't break the bank.

You know, if I bought the stoptechs, and it turns out that I only bought the name, I'd be pretty pissed. I mean, I know that they are quality, and probably at a very good price, but what everyone is emphatically telling me is that nothing that is less expensive comes close. That sux.

Without first-hand experience,

I can't say Stoptech is the bomb. But I listen when Gary Sheehan says they kick but. He's going way faster than any of us probably will ever go. And he's putting major abuse on them. I have 310mm X 28mm rotors in the front and 320mm X 20mm rotors in the rear on 16s. It's possible I could put 325mm rotors in the front, but it's really tight. If you want to check out my brakes, they're about fully broken in (bedded plus 100 miles). Stoptech has a great reputation. But you'll have to give up the 16s.

I was talking about the 6pot/4pot setup. Not the little ones. But I'm sure those work fine too. I see that you're trying to get something to fit under your 16"s as well, .... so ....

Stoptech's aren't really a big name like Brembo's or even Willwood, .... you'd be buying proven cost effective brakes, Not a name.
Now if you bought the Brembo Gran Turismo kit, you'd be buying Name. B/c it's already been prven that the Stoptech's will stop you faster.
