Painted rims with spray can

I just painted rims that has been laying around doing nothing. I got the idea from this thread. https://www.i-club.com/forums/hawaii-43/advice-knowledge-painting-wheels-189227/ just letting you all know i am a noob at all of this and still learning and i just wanted to do this for fun. Here's what i did. Got 1000 grit sand paper and sanded down some ugly *** chrome rims and went over with a 400 grit to lighty smooth is out. Had a small lip to the rim so my friend and i decided to tape up the lip and save that look. So we started off with primer (4 layers 15min in between) then pink (4 layers 15min in between) and finally clear which we did 5 layers 15min in between. Here are the pics.
Paint.

After sanded.

Taping off the lip

Taped paper over tire (even tho tire is no good already)

1st light coat of primer

1st light coat of pink

Last coat of pink

Taking off tape on the lip

1st layer of clear

Last layer of clear. Yea we decided to spray clear on the lip so it will give more of a shine to it.

Hope you enjoyed it! it was fun doing this! Btw this is for my friends sister so hopefully we get tires for her and put it on and take a pic for you again!

Good job on the DIY! I also noticed all the index cards on the last pic. Was this done to notice contrasts in the color? I guess you can see imperfections on white better than newspaper.
Props to you!

Index cards work great so you dont clear your tire too.

Goodjob, very bold with the pink.

the index cars was mostly for covering the tire (fast way) lazy to tape it up but thats a good idea to find imperfections with the white to bring the contrast of the colors out.

LOL thanks. The first color popped into my mind was gold but she was deciding to sell it so we decided to paint it pink so she will like it more. She likes lime green more but i think that would be too weird.
