does anyone know what oil filter goes with the 04 sti and where to get it?

15208AA080 - AA080 Oil Filter is the OEM one for the 04+ WRX and STi, and you can use that for older turbo models too. Otherwise it's the AA060 you want for the if you want OEM for the 02.

060 is white and larger and came with the bugeye models, the 080 are black and smaller. I don't know about other brands, personally I stick with Subaru oil filters.
