Seriously, check the link above. The valves with "nipples" are for tight fit or special applications.

I ran into that type of situation a couple of times before. What I just did was kept turning it counter clockwise until my hands and arms were sore. Then Ill stop for a while and then go back at it finally spinned off. Or just use those Oil filter wrench!!

I just changed my oil yesterday for the first time (switched it over to Mobil 1 5w30) and the oil filter as well as the drain plug were super tight. Best solution I found was a longer handle ratchet for more leverage on the filter. When you put the new one on just put it on hand tight and the next time it should be easier to remove.

Also I just swapped out the stock plug for the Fumoto (no nipple)... awesome little piece.. its harder to open then I thought it would so there should be no accidental spillings.

Yeah...been changing my own oil since

Kaneohe Subaru closed down...It's easy though...I thought the plastic pan underneath was a pain at first but it only takes 3-5min. to take off...5 bolts and 4 Plastic grommets...

Like above^^^I hand tighten my oil filter on after lubing the rubber gasket with a little bit of oil...I also make sure I use a new crush washer on the oil pan bolt...

Thanks to Broddah Brandon, I now use the 1yr Amsoil oil filter and Amsoil 5w-30 100% synthetic...awesome lube...

^^^Contact Brandon (1tyme)

1Tyme

He is a distributor for Amsoil now...last I talked to him, he said he would put in an order toward the end of the month...he likes cash up front...

You can get a case of 5w-30 100% Synth and qt 2 1yr Oil Filters for the Sti for around $100 from him...$100 for a years worth of changes with the best oil and filter is pretty cheap...

Word Amsoil is nice stuff.

I like changing it a little more than every year though...I just get nervous

I hand tighten and loosen everything. The first time I changed my oil I needed my breaker bar because the prior owner was having Jiffy Lube do it and they use air tools so that they can be "Jiffy"

I'll probably slap on a Fumoto one day.

BTW...I cut some of my plastic undertray thingie to make it easier to change oil.

Foresters come w/a small panel "door" that swivels out of the way to expose the filter and drain plug. No need to remove undertray.

Yeah Blake...me too...I bought the 1 year oil filters but plan to change it out after 6 months...

Very happy with the lube though...

i use a wet/dry vac and suck it out from the top, then just poor in the new oil. that way i dont have to buy new washers and take off the drain plug
