oil change at a 1,000 miles

yups. i want to change it before i really open it up. i actually held myself back the whole time...revs 4k and under. fun stuff.

i wanted to get an oem oil filter for my 05 sti but seems like it'll cost a grip. (i went down to see nino about price and what not)

just wonderin' what you 04 sti owners are usin'....any suggestions or advice is much appreciated.

ouch $19! damn even regular people price for an oem filter from schuman is $12

From what I gathered on the boards, it's best to stay with junky oil til 3k-5k just to make sure everything seats together. Synthetic is too slippy for this. There's alot of resources here explaining why, but I waited til 5k and am happy.

Did:
500 - regular oil
2500 - regular oil
5000 - synthetic

yup... don't do fram. Had bad luck with it when I put it on my 04 rex. Strictly oem even though it costs about 12 to 14 dollars. mobil 1 synthetic at 1000 is what i did. Gonna find out if there are any side effects.

So where can you get an OEM filter around here for a decent price? I was able to get them for like $6 each in WA. I hope I don't have to have a friend mail several down to me. $12 is insane!
