New to forums, 2002 wrx
Names Matt, I'm new to iclub, picked up a 2002 wrx, 84k miles
Mods on it are Invidia downpipe, blitz catback, Spt intake.
Having issues with the car accelerating, it wont rev past 2k loses power going uphill.
So far I've changed the maf, iacv, spark plugs, intercooler hoses, and went from oem downpipe to the catless invidia v2. O2 sensors read normally, thing is giving me a headache.
If anyone can help or give advice it is appreciated. Would also like to know a good place to take the car to get it tested out for diagnostics, its been giving me a headache running out of ideas would like to take it to a specialist.

Do you have any gauges? Mainly a boost gauge? Sounds like your car is in limp mode for some reason, which may be a boost/vacuum leak....could be many other reasons but hard to tell based on your symptoms. Any bucking/shuttering when you're accelerating? Could be your coil packs.....I just had to replace mine. Hopefully some other "wiser" folks will chime in.

CEL just went on this afternoon, code read p0121. No bucking its like it just cuts of power once it hits 2k rpm. No boost gauge although I looked under the dash and found a hose where it looks like there was a boost gauge installed before and was removed. Would that cause a boost leak big enough to cause such a problem?
Thanks for the input, I'm gonna check the coil packs make sure they're plugged in.

the code you pulled is for the throttle position sensor.....may want to google or search on Iclub/Nasioc for solutions to this CEL as I am not familiar with it (havent had this issue on my 03). When I mentioned coil packs, I meant going bad. My issue was a bucking/stuttering when I was wide open throttle. Ended up that one of my coil packs were not "full" strength...replaced it and the bucking stopped. I had no CEL or anything, but that might be due to my protune blocking those out. Good luck though

When I first got my car that happened to me once and i just reset the ECU and the problem never came back.

when did the trouble start? was it right after a mod? i assume it was running fine when you bought it and for a while after? do you have an access port? maybe you have a dick friend who put you in vallet as a joke? first thing you should do it check the plug for the TPS and make sure it's not loose (yes this does happen and i know it's retarded but just do it). you can check the voltage coming out of the sensor to make sure it's working and in spec. i would be willing to bet unless you've got a cat (or cat material) stuck in your up pipe you probably just need to inspect the wires to the TPS and might find one is cracked or just unplugged. see how that works out.

Trouble started after I changed the spark plugs. After that codes went on for iacv and maf, got new parts then reset ECU after swapping them and it hasn't been the same since.
Gonna look into getting new coil packs, any recommended sites to order from? Good customer service experience/shipping costs for Hawaii??

Before you go spending megabucks on new coilpacks, try checking the gap on your spark plugs first. Also...
Unplug your MAF, see if it idles smoothly
Clean your IACV, google how to do so
Double check your spark plug gaps
Double check all plug connections on your engine harness ( there are lots of wires hanging out around your coilpack wires, its likely you pulled one lose. )

When unplugging the maf, it dies right away. The iacv is brand new with a new gasket, haven't checked the spark plug gap yet, may be investing in one of those tools this weekend hopefully, might have to hold off another week work schedule is crazy for new years.

invest in a volt meter and test the voltage going to the TPS first to make sure it is working. if all you did was plugs i suspect you have a loose connector or wire since just changing the plugs should cause the trouble you're describing.
