if it was a headgasket you would probably be overheating. go somewhere and have a diagnotics run on your coolant. have them check for hydro carbons. if hydro carbons are present then you are letting oil into the water jacket.

Orville,

Yeah, when I had my 95 Toyota SR5 V6, my head gasket blew (the 3.0l were known to do this) and this white putrid smelling white smoke came barreling out of my exhaust...it was nuts there was all this steam (basically anti-freeze/water getting into the engine due to the gasket failing) and turning into steam...bad for the engine...anti freeze/glycol is a non-consumable type of sugar...so when the liquid evaporated, it left behind crystals...inside the engine...bad...luckily, due to a recall, the engine was covered under warranty...

Anyhow, the head gasket failure is like one of these all or nothing things...you probably just have some condensation in your exhaust and it is coming out as steam...all this wet, cool weather doesn't help much either....

My car uses oil...I think it is normal for our cars to use a 1/2 to 1 quart or so between oil changes...

Try smelling the smoke...any residue? Does your car sit out all night or does it go in the garage? If it sits outside all night, it's almost a bet that is going to collect condensation due to the chilly (relatively speaking) mornings we have been having. I am listening to the radio right now and they said it was 68 degrees out...and moist...also to get an idea of how much moisture can accumulate...just look at the outside of your car and how wet it is in the morning...

If it's oil, you will definitely be able to smell it though...
